About Us

At sea swim Devon we are true ocean souls, living and breathing the saltwater life. Pure ocean enthusiasts, endlessly drawn to the waves.

Whether we’re swimming, surfing, paddleboarding, windsurfing, or diving in for yet another swim, our passion for the sea is boundless and we want nothing more than to share that passion with others and guide them on their saltwater journey.

Mission & Vision

Sea Swim Devon CIC is a community interest company dedicated to equipping individuals with the knowledge, skills, technical ability and confidence to swim safely in the open water.

Alongside our day-to-day swim coaching, at Sea Swim Devon we work with trusted partners and local experts to deliver unique and bespoke water safety and educational programmes that create an enriching experience for swimmers of all abilities (adults and children).

Sea Swim Devon CIC

Sea Swim Devon CIC exists due to the strong partnership, extensive experience and complimentary skills of Bernie Rhodes and Jane Hushon. Bernie, a primary school teacher, PE Lead for the Exmouth Learning Community, and Jane, a seasoned swimming consultant with over two decades running a successful swim school in East Devon, combine their expertise to offer meaningful, safety-focused sessions beyond traditional classrooms and pools.

Delivering water safety out on the beach is core to our offer and the blend of our skills and expertise ensures our sessions are informative and of value.

Sea Swim Devon CIC Coaches are Swim England SEQ L2 Open Water Coaches and hold Surf/ Beach Lifeguard qualifications. We are licensed by East Devon Events to operate our training on Maer Rocks Bay, Exmouth Beach.

Why a CIC

We are NOT for PROFIT – that means that all the money made by SEA Swim Devon goes back into our offering and enables us to provide and expand swimming opportunities and projects for the local community.

What Our Participants Say

“Brilliant from start to finish, this day was so well organised. Great communication and everyone had real passion for the whole aims of the day and this was conveyed well to the children. The kids loved it and the adults loved it. One of the best days out in terms of what we got out of it and how much fun it was. Please can we come again”.

Clyst Hydon

“Sideshore Sea Safety Project is an amazing project that our students were privileged to take part in. A fun and educational day.”

Exmouth Community College

“An outstanding day, we absolutely loved it! 10 out of 10! I have never known my group to be so engaged and on task.”

Angela Reed

“The children experienced three very different but equally important activities. The sea swimming session was fun but also VERY important for the children living in this local area. The staff have been incredible - this is just what Exmouth schools need!”

“Amazing team, encouraging, supportive of the children and excellent supervision and ratios throughout.” “One of the best school trips EVER” - a non-swimmer “I liked the environmental session - the mussel expert was best”
